Strategic summit: Israel-US relations, trends and looking ahead

A central cornerstone of Israel’s national security strategy is the strong military, economic and diplomatic support of the United States. The erosion of the American support might severely harm the national security of the State of Israel. Long term trends in American society, government, media and education have been accelerating in recent years and threaten the American long-term support of Israel. These trends are connected to deep demographic and social changes in the US, and to a concentrated action by our enemies who are taking advantage of these trends against Israel. For example, the narrative in which American companies are staring to claim that "I should not do business in Israel or with Israeli companies because it would hurt the companies’ ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) score" is permeating into the global business world. This narrative is a result of Palestinian activities to de-legitimize the state of Israel. The goal of these actions is to create international pressure to invoke sanctions on Israel, so says Daniel Reisner, a partner with Herzog, Fox & Neeman. The three main conclusions of the conference are: (1) We are at a critical point in time to influence before it will be too late; (2) The challenges add up to a very disturbing picture; and (3) We must immediately raise awareness in Israel to these challenges.
